This Privacy Policy describes how SpendLog (the “App”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use SpendLog’s features to store daily transactions, create events (contributions, gifts, and event transactions), and manage DailyBasket lists. By using the App or our website at spendlog.in, you agree to this Policy.

Scope & Definitions

“Service” means the App and the website. “Personal Data” means information that identifies or can reasonably be linked to you. “Usage Data” means technical data generated by your use of the Service.

Information We Collect

1) Account & Profile

When you create an account (optional, if offered), we may collect your name, email/phone and a password or auth token.

2) Daily Transactions

Amounts, dates, notes, categories, attachments (e.g., bill photos), and any tags you add.

3) Events: Contributions, Gifts & Event Transactions

Event names, dates, participants, contribution details, gift records (giver/receiver, value, notes), and related transactions.

4) DailyBasket Lists

List names, items, quantities, optional prices, and any final totals you store (including when saved to calendar).

5) Device & Usage Data

Technical data such as device type, OS version, app version, language, limited diagnostics, and crash logs to help us maintain and secure the Service.

6) Optional Access

• Camera/Photos for attaching bills or gift photos.
• Contacts to quickly add event participants or share lists.
• Calendar to save final amounts or reminders (if you choose).
• Storage for exports/backups on your device.

You can enable/disable these permissions at any time in your device settings. The App works without most optional permissions.

How We Use Information

• Provide, operate, and improve the Service and its features (transactions, events, and DailyBasket).
• Sync your data across devices (if you sign in).
• Respond to support requests and communicate important updates (e.g., security or feature changes).
• Protect against fraud, abuse, and misuse; ensure security and integrity.
• Comply with legal obligations.

Sharing & Disclosure

• Service providers that host, store, or process data under contractual confidentiality and security obligations.
• Sharing you choose, such as sharing a DailyBasket list with others; you can stop sharing at any time.
• Legal when required by law, court order, or to protect rights, safety, or the Service.
• We do not sell personal data.

Data Security

We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information, including TLS encryption for data in transit and encryption at rest for stored data. Sensitive fields (e.g., transaction amounts, notes) are encrypted and decrypted securely within the App to reduce exposure. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we continually improve our protections.

Data Retention

We retain information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You can delete entries in the App at any time. If you request account deletion, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period unless we must retain certain information for legal or security reasons.

Your Choices & Rights

• Access & Edit your data in the App.
• Export your data (where available) to standard formats.
• Delete specific records or your account.
• Permissions can be changed at any time in device settings.
• Marketing communications can be opted out at any time (if we send any).

Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child provided personal data, please contact us for deletion.

International Transfers

Your information may be processed outside your state or country where laws may differ. We take appropriate measures to ensure transfers comply with applicable laws and maintain adequate protections.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated Policy here and revise the “Last updated” date. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice in the App.
